(Undated card from April 2nd, 1996)
Each year I try to go to the Antiquarian Book Fair held at the 67th Street Armory. I’m not a serious collector. I, simply, can’t afford to be a serious collector. I have a small shelf of antiquarian books; the notes of James Clerk Maxwell, some Latin texts, a few signed novels and some patient records from extinct hospitals. I do enjoy the sight of old books, the feel of old books, and often the contents of old books. This year I found a signed copy of one volume of Nin’s diary. The prices at this fair have progressively risen over the years. I can no longer afford books that crossed my desk only ten years ago.
