Repaired the washing machine
Despite all our efforts, we must deal with reality. The washing machine broke. I’ve put aside all my ruminations and concentrated on repairing this essential piece of household machinery. I know nothing about the construction of washing machines. I do know that I don’t have enough money to buy a new, or even used, machine. I devoted the day to this repair. I began by carefully taking it apart. It seemed like a simple construct. The culprit turned out to be a metal cam about the size and shape of a small ruler. This piece bent and split under almost continuous use. I located a Sears distribution center along Route 17, just outside of Hackensack, that had this part in stock. I think it cost $17 and a days’ worth of tinkering to repair the washing machine.
