And so begins a new life.

As the plane revved its engines preparing for takeoff from Newark Airport, I looked out of the window and watched the ground and the past fly by and distance itself from me.   I’m often startled by the simplicity of major events.   They seem to happen with the ease of breathing yet they mark a very definite change in pattern.   I’m leaving unhappiness for the promise of bliss.   I’m tired of crying.   It is too soon to know if this is the answer.   The stewardess offers us some coffee.   Steve is talking about sales projections.   I hear only enough words to nod and respond, as if I were listening to him.   My heart has withdrawn to the state of an observer.   I’ll see what happens and hope for the best.
